Michelin v Bridgestone

I have always been a bit of a Michelin tyre man (well not literately) and have always found them the best tyres around. I started in tyres after leaving school in 1995 and can say have gained some experience on tyres. Michelin at the time were probably the most expensive tyres you could buy, but also the longest lasting. The Michelin Pilot tyre was introduced to the Rally and British touring cars scene and at the same time they launched a new green X tyre which would promote better fuel economy. Now in 2011 my views have slightly changed, yes Michelin are and always will be a great tyre, but now they have a rival, a tyre that has dominated F1 for some years, a tyre that is as equally long lasting and very competitively priced, Bridgestone. At about the same time Michelin were being introduced into the motor racing scene, Bridgestone were also trying to break into the same market but over in America with their Firestone brand into Indy car racing and in 1997 the Bridgestone brand entered Formula 1 racing and have been a part of it ever since. If someone was to ask me what tyre to choose, these two would be on the top of my list obviously depending on price.

They are many many good tyres, Uniroyal, Goodyear and Dunlop to say a few and i have tried most of them, some tyres suit different cars and some tyres suit different drivers.
