Finding the best price for tyres can be a time consuming process especially since there’s loads of companies selling tyres and so many makes to choose from. If you do your research online then you may find that some tyre suppliers have a slightly cheaper price than others, the price they quote you is normally the fitted price(always make sure there’s no hidden charges) If you are the type of person who prefers to visit a garage then the price given compared to another garage maybe considerably different. What should be quoted in the price of a new tyre are:

Valves should always be replaced when fitting a new tyre.

Wheel balance, every new tyre fitted needs to be balanced.

Disposal Charge for your old tyre.

To buy tyres online visit BlackCircles.com Ltd and Tyre Shopper which will give you their best price for tyres, you can see some of their deals on the tyre deals page. Once when tyres were sold on the Internet via mail order you would buy your tyres and have them delivered to your home or garage of your choice, the garage would then charge you for the fitment of the tyres. Things are a little different these days with most online tyre suppliers including this fitting charge in the price or for free. Large companies like ATS, Kwik Fit and HiQ buy tyres in bulk and can often give you their best price for tyres on many different brands. Where ever you get your tyres, remember they are an important part to any vehicle, its worth spending a little time researching prices and the tyre brands and get a good deal on some great tyres.

For some people when they come to buy tyres online they find it a daunting task. Questions like, where do you buy from? What tyres do I buy? What size are my tyres? Which brand of tyre(s) is best to suit my vehicle and budget? With these questions floating around in your head, most people find it easier to pop over to their local garage and eliminate all that hard work. But, and I mean it’s a very big but, tyres or tyre deals are by far cheaper online. So with this in mind I’m going to help you with this little obstacle of how to buy tyres online.

Tip 1. Know your budget, shop around. Many online tyre companies offer some sort of discount (I’m looking into adding the latest offers/discounts to the site soon) so what you may find is that when you buy a budget tyre(s) from a local garage you might have got a branded tyre(s) online for around the same sort of price. Beware of hidden charges.

Tip 2. Know your tyre size. It amazed me when people would turn up to the garage where I worked and ask if I could put some tyres on the vehicle. My first response would be “yes not a problem”; I would then ask them “what size tyre they were after?” Nearly 90% of people I asked that to said they had no idea and surely that was my job to know… well sometimes I did, but other factors needed to be considered too, like speed ratings and load ratings. The tyre size is easy to find, it will look similar to this (175/65 R 14 82T) on the side wall of the tyre. That should be all the information you need, unless you need a reinforced, plied or run flat tyre, again this will stated on the side wall of the tyre. If you can not find the size, have a look in the vehicles handbook normally towards the back of the handbook.

Tip 3. Well not so much of a tip but more of a helpful insight, having tyres fitted at a time that suits you, sometimes at home or a place of work can mean huge difference, we live in a fast, ever changing environment and have hectic lifestyles, so taking advantage of a mobile tyre fitting service or booking in at a preferred garage, at time that suits you can make the experience of getting tyres fitted far more enjoyable.

Three websites where you can buy tyres online are Blackcircles.com Limited, Tyre Shopper and Halfords Autocentres

I have always been a bit of a Michelin tyre man (well not literately) and have always found them the best tyres around. I started in tyres after leaving school in 1995 and can say have gained some experience on tyres. Michelin at the time were probably the most expensive tyres you could buy, but also the longest lasting. The Michelin Pilot tyre was introduced to the Rally and British touring cars scene and at the same time they launched a new green X tyre which would promote better fuel economy. Now in 2011 my views have slightly changed, yes Michelin are and always will be a great tyre, but now they have a rival, a tyre that has dominated F1 for some years, a tyre that is as equally long lasting and very competitively priced, Bridgestone. At about the same time Michelin were being introduced into the motor racing scene, Bridgestone were also trying to break into the same market but over in America with their Firestone brand into Indy car racing and in 1997 the Bridgestone brand entered Formula 1 racing and have been a part of it ever since. If someone was to ask me what tyre to choose, these two would be on the top of my list obviously depending on price.

They are many many good tyres, Uniroyal, Goodyear and Dunlop to say a few and i have tried most of them, some tyres suit different cars and some tyres suit different drivers.
